Drafted in Aug. 53. Trained as radio operator & Commo Chief. Arrived Korea first part of July 1954. Was a Radio Operator in Hqtrs Co. 13th Combat Eng. Bn, 7th Div. on the DMZ. Was transferred to the 24th Div in Dec 54 also on the DMZ right next to the 7th Div. Almost as soon as I arrived, the entire 24th Div. was loaded up and shipped to Sasebo, Japan. Stayed in Sasebo for ~ 2 months, then the entire 24 Div was sent back to Korea and ended up on the DMZ again. Left Korea in June 1955.

My father, CPT Glade Wittwer, was B company commander in the 13th ECB, approximate dates: September 1948 until February 1949. He was stationed at Seoul. I have many of his letters from that era, and am willing to share them. Some of his fellow officers: LT Gayhart, LT Hatch, LT Ardnet. MAJ Hammerly, Bass, CPT Brant, MAJ Miller, CPT Westfall, & LT Blohm.
